User Guide

The basic premise of RR Scale Trainer is to quiz you on various questions in the scope of a scale or scales on the fretboard. You are shown a fretboard with a section highlighted -- this highlighted section is the section of the fretboard for which the current scale is valid. You are then presented with various questions which you answer by tapping on the fretboard.

Playing a game

To start a game, from the Main Menu, select "Play". You will then be presented with a list of saved game profiles from which you can select. Alternatively, you can also create a new game profile. Tap the game you wish to play. Once you have selected a game profile you will be presented with the Game Options screen. (more detail on this screen can be found in Adding/Editing Game Profiles). Tap "Play" to start the game.

In the game, you will be presented with a fretboard and a set of buttons at the bottom of the screen. A portion of the fretboard, associated with a single scale will be highlighted. For each question that is asked, answer the question by tapping the appropriate position on the fretboard, or button at the bottom of the screen.

During the game, if you need a hint, use the "hint" button at the top of the screen. There are two ways to use the button:

  1. Tap - tap the hint button to show a hint. To see the next hint, tap again.
  2. Tap and hold - if you just want a quick hint, tap and hold the hint button. As long as you hold the hint button down, the hint will be displayed. If you continue to hold the hint button down, the hints will progress through all hint types configured on the game profile.
